Keynote Speaker

SALLY MASON
President, University of Iowa

Sally Mason became the 20th President of The University of Iowa on August 1, 2007.  She holds a full professorship with tenure in the Department of Biology of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. President Mason holds a Ph.D. in cellular, molecular, and developmental biology from The University of Arizona.

President Mason will speak about how heart health is one of the most critical health issues for women today.  The symptoms of heart disease and its effects are different for women than for men; therefore, the need for more research and new treatments in this area is great.  President Mason will speak from a very personal perspective—a number of her family members, including her mother, died from heart disease by age 60.

TRACY CLAPP
Pediatric RN, University of Iowa Children's Hospital

Tracy Clapp is a young, successful woman whose life changed forever the morning of April 26th 2008. Brian was just 39.

Tracy and Brian had been married since August of 1991. They started dating in high school and dated throughout their college years as students of the University of Iowa. Brian graduated in 1990 with a business degree and Tracy graduated the following year with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Tracy is a pediatric RN at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, and has worked on the same unit in pediatrics since 1991. She works with a wide range of patient populations including pulmonary, neurology, general pediatrics, orthopedics, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, oral surgery and trauma, in addition to one of Tracy’s favorites: pediatric cardiology!
